Ned McGowan

A specialist in contemporary music, Ned McGowan has worked with many composers, including Ofer Ben Amots, Louis Andriessen, Elinor Armer, Douglas Boyce, Elliot Carter, George Crumb, Kris Defoort, Brian Ferneyhough, John Harbison, Eugene Lee, Helmut Lachenman, Eric Lyon, James Mobberly, Petros Ovsepyan, Bernard Rands, Jeffrey Stanek, Michael Torke, and Mark Anthony Turnage.

 With a solo program of works by himself and other composers, he has performed in Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Israel, the United States, Japan, India and Canada.

 In addition to with his quintet Hexnut, McGowan regularly performs with the Spinifex Orchestra and in various creative projects. He has also performed with Tonk, Bhedam, muzikFabrik, Scapino Dance Company, Aka Moon, Weshm, the Gene Carl Band, Beethoven Acadamie, Dreamtime and the Erie Philharmonic. From 1996 until 1999 he was the resident flutist of the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, during the Aspen Music Festival (CO, USA).
